As Chief Communicator for Write. On Communication Services, Jill Ellis-Worthington is a dedicated story teller whose passion for words is surpassed only by her eagerness to get them out of her head and onto a word doc.
Beginning her career in publishing with CRV Publications as assistant editor of Power Boating Canada Magazine 35 years ago, Jill spent nearly 10 years working for Canada’s largest newspaper chain, Sun Media, before striking out on her own and turning Write. On Communication Services into a thriving business, helping businesses grow and prosper by attracting attention through cutting-edge communication strategies.
Graduate of Texas A&M University and Western University, Jill has had stories published in magazines and newspapers across Canada and the U.S., including Sun Media and Post Media, Texas Highways Magazine, Renovation Contractor Magazine, Bayliner Magazine, Canadian Living Magazine, eatdrink Magazine, and Amerikidz Magazine. She is also the editor of Lifestyle Magazine.
Jill’s storytelling skills translate to above-the-noise content generation. After working with Jill, her clients are better story tellers themselves in their oral presentations, blogging, social media posts, mainstream media releases and networking opportunities.
Navigating the world of construction is a complicated process. The industry has its own language, culture and conventions. Who better to help you chart a course than someone with over 40 years experience both as a contractor and as a college level construction professor? Ralph combines practical knowledge with proven communication skills to provide you with no-nonsense, clear, concise and, occasionally humorous, learning experiences for a well-rounded understanding of our complicated industry.
Ralph holds a certificate in Construction Engineering Technology and Management from Fanshawe College, a teaching certificate from St. Clair College and a Professional Gold Seal certification from the Canadian Construction Association. His career has taken him from estimator to project manager, from self-employed contractor to a 30 year career as a professor with the Donald J. Smith School of Building Technology at Fanshawe College in London, where he still teaches part-time.
He was a 25 year member of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyor (PQS - Professional Quantity Surveyor) and is currently a charter member of the Construction and Design Educators Council of Canada. Ralph sits on the board of advisors for the CDECC as well as for an Ontario based construction company. He also conducts professional development audits for companies wishing to invest in their employee base through industry related and specific training.
Construction contracts, quantity surveying, estimating, construction materials and techniques and building economics are his primary areas of expertise. His technical articles have appeared in many SunMedia publications as well as Our Homes magazine and several construction association magazines.
A mid-century modern enthusiast, he also enjoys researching, presenting and writing on the subject of mid-century architecture. He has written for internationally renowned Atomic Ranch magazine and he has spoken on the subject at several venues. In retirement, he is an avid air gunner and dabbles in mid-century themed artistic architectural sculpture.
